Action Alert: EPA Proposes to Weaken and Delay Cement Kiln Regulations

EPA Proposes to Weaken and Delay Cement Kiln Regulations;
Tell EPA NOT to weaken or delay the rules!
As you all know, PenderWatch and STAN, along with many other grassroots groups from across the country, have been working for several years with EarthJustice in Washington, DC to forge strong, protective federal rules regulating the toxic air pollution from cement kilns. We thought we had succeeded; everything was going according to plan and the new regulations were due to become effective in 2013. But now the regulations are being challenged by the Portland Cement Association (PCA), the organization of the cement industry -- and it appears that the EPA is caving in to industry pressure to significantly weaken the cement kiln regulations. The Chairman of the Portland Cement Association is Aris Papadopoulos, CEO of Titan America.
